Senioritis endemic ditches Class of ’23

by TRES SMITH

I believe that “senioritis” is a hoax created by the Chadwick administration. We are working harder than ever! Senioritis is just an excuse the school uses so it can get away with assigning more tests and projects during the second semester.

Everyone comes to class prepared on the day of the test. In addition, senior attendance in the second semester has reportedly reached record highs. Every single senior came out to support their fellow peers and educate themselves on social justice this year.

Since attendance has been stellar with the senior class, we should have senior ditch day every Monday. Just like Garfield, I hate Mondays. Mondays signal the abrupt end to the weekend. Let’s normalize a four-day school week. Monday is always difficult because most seniors have five or more classes that only meet for 45 minutes.

While we are at it, let’s make the remaining four days a late start so us seniors can come to class extra early.

There have not been many events going on at school recently, so most seniors decide to study in the library. In fact, the library has never been more packed with seniors, all striving to get the best grades possible before college.

This is because second-semester senior grades are critical, obviously. Colleges don’t look at your early Upper School grades. Why would they look at grades that reflect your previous self?

Personally, I’ve never been more motivated to practice flashcards and memorize content for the sake of passing a test. During spring break, all seniors actually studied for AP tests (even the ones that they cannot get credit for)!

Seniors couldn’t wait to attend their advisee-led conferences on Monday. We were delighted to talk to our parents about our growth in the Core ompetencies this year.

The effort seniors have been putting in is better than the maximum 94.5% grade that some classes impose. Instead, they should give us 100% because of our 100% effort level …  and because we bring our teachers to tears!
