Chadwick jets into airport mode for new masterplan

by SEBASTIAN ELORTEGUI

Chadwick Head of School Jessica Donovan and the Board of Trustees have announced a bold new vision for the school: by the end of this academic year, Chadwick will be transformed into a fully functional airport.

Construction is set to begin immediately after the students leave for summer break. In a dramatic shift, all Chadwick Camp classes will be refunded, and students will instead be enlisted to help build airplanes.

“This is a good choice for our school because kids can learn to run their own business, build, and learn about aerodynamics,” Donovan said.

Middle School English teacher Kate Elortegui commented on the transformation, noting that Chadwick was “basically already an airport, with many students leaving for vacations each day.”

Security and Logistics

Chadwick is ramping up security measures to ensure efficiency and safety. Extra personnel will be hired to expedite baggage checks, reflecting the school’s commitment to keeping everyone secure.

“One reason we’ve decided to make Chadwick an airport is because we’ve noticed long car lines, just like at an airport,” said Bob Rule, Director of Risk Management and Transportation.

To alleviate wait times, younger students will receive Village passes, allowing them to bypass long lines and bag checks.

Cafeteria Changes

In a move that mirrors airport concession stand pricing, the cafeteria menu will see significant price hikes. Rumors suggest that a burger will cost $35, while noodles will be priced at $10 per serving. New additions to the cafeteria will include Domino’s Pizza and Homeboy sandwiches.

Campus Transformations

Roessler Hall will undergo a major renovation to include a new Roessler lookout tower. The lawns will be repurposed with painted lanes to facilitate the movement of planes. The library will be converted into a video game and entertainment multi-purpose room.

Teachers will transition into roles as airplane captains, while the current staff will become flight attendants. School bus drivers will take on the role of shuttle drivers. Baggage will be delivered straight to classrooms on conveyor belts, and students will collect their belongings upon arriving in class.

Frequent Flyer Program

Students who frequently fly from Chadwick will be recognized as Dolphin Frequent Flyers and will graduate to the Premium Fliers College. Benefits of the Frequent Flyer program include global travel opportunities, allowing students to share their adventures and experiences.

“The Frequent Flyer program is great, and I should know because I am one of them,” said fourth-grade teacher Heidi Yamada. “This global opportunity benefit is one of a kind.”

Donovan added while purchasing a Chadwick hat souvenir, “We are hoping that when kids return to the airport, they will be happy to share their adventures with us so we can improve the experiences of others!”
